Free Sample!
If you are a new client, then you are eligible for 2500 words' worth of free editing!
What does this mean?

If you have never enlisted the services of Black Cat Editing before, I am inviting you to sample my services for free! Editing costs money, is a commitment of time and expense, and requires trust with the editor. Going into such a situation without any clear idea of how I communicate or what my work looks like would be daunting to say the least!

This is why I am giving everyone a chance to see what I can do, how fast I work, how thoroughly I work, and whether or not I'm a good match for you as a writer.

Taking advantage of the free sample is not a commitment of any kind, nor will it come with any expectation of future work. There is meant to be zero pressure involved on your end or mine.

I would like to get a free sample. How do I go about that?

That's wonderful! I'm so happy to hear it. What you can do is reach out to me via the message page or send me an email directly at black.cat.editor@gmail.com, send me a message through the contact form, or request a quote, and indicate that you would like to get a free sample of editing done. I'll respond and let you know how to get your file to me (generally speaking, a .doc or .docx file attached to the email itself will be fine), I'll confirm receipt of the file, and then get to work. If what you are sending is longer than 2500 words, I will start at the beginning (or a point you request) and continue until the 2500th word is reached and leave a comment there to denote where the edits end. Once that is all done, I will send you another email and attach the file with the free edits to it. You take a look, see if what I've done is helpful, and then you get to decide what to do next.

What if I don't like the free sample?

That's unfortunate, but I do understand that not every editor is a perfect match for every writer. You can keep your 2500 words' worth of free editing to do whatever you like with it, and I can direct to other freelance editors if you wish.

What if I do like the free sample?

Then that's great! If you like what I've provided in the sample, we can start a discussion about what other projects might need work (or continuining on the one the sample comes from), what sort of work they need, and various other parameters. Even if you do like the free sample and would like to engage my services in the future but not immediately, that's fine too! I understand that all projects get completed on their own time, and sometimes it's nice to line up an editor that you like before you need one.
